asked:

This question has been continuously recurring back to me over the year. I remember when I was 10 years old and being flooded with ads that had nothing to do with Nickelodeon or PBS. And still, to this day, it’s leaking into the minds of this new generation. Do we really want young kids talking about what new cleaning supplies they want? Do we really need kids learning about new toys they’d probably break or abandon by the next week? Or should we spam them with random things like cellphones and key-chains when they’re not even 2 years old?

These days, it’s ridiculous how long ad’s are and I believe a petition should be started to stop them.
Or at least filter ads to be related to what we’re watching. I personally hated it when I would be watching something on sports, and a split second later being yelled at by some dude who wants to sell me laxatives.

What really makes things worse are internet ads, and that some ads last for 30seconds to 1full minute, and you CAN’T skip them. Sure, companies spend money for ads, yes, but it’s gotten out of control. They could at least give the “potential” customer the option to skip their ad that’s completely irrelevant to what they’re watching.

On average, most networks air 12 minutes ads per hour.
Do you know how many ads a child 8-10 years old watches a day? Approximately 38 minutes a day of ad watching, which is 30,000 a year. And small toddlers by the age of two watch up to 18 minutes a day of advertisement, which, ads up to about 14,000 ads a year.
I doubt a 2 year old can even count to 14,000!

And nothing’s better than those food ad’s to help to our child obesity problem.

If someone can give me a valid reason why this cancer to society, A.K.A advertisements are still here, Well, then…You’re a good person.

Javier
