Overweight children. What is wrong with these parents?

I was appalled when I saw some overweight BABIES on the Maury Povich show. 2-year-old at 70 lbs, 3-year-old at 80 lbs, 4-year-old at 110 lbs. The mothers sat there and talked about how they put them on diets…of ice cream, potato chips, soda, fried chicken, etc. and gave them all the food the kids wanted. What is wrong with these people? Am I missing something? And the mothers were no skinny minnies either. These little kids are helpless in that they can only eat what their mothers give them. To me, in a way, this is almost like child abuse.
