My daughter is 3 years old (4 in october). I am a single mother, working part time, and going to school full time. Last year my daughter started getting a little heavy but I figgured she was probably about to have a growth spurt. However, after about 6 months I finally realized, this was a growth spurt, just in the wrong direction. I feed her 100% natural food, and she only drinks water. She gets moderate exercize, but because I’m a single mom I can’t afford day care so I have to pay my family to watch her. They are the main culprits of the situation. She spends about 2 days on the weekend with my dad who feeds her anything she wants. She’s currently at 42 lbs. Which is heavy, and I worry about it growing into adulthood obesity. I was heavy as a child and understand how relentless kids can be once she starts school. Does anyone have any suggestions?????

Are obese and overweight children (now 1 in 5 kids) the result of mothers working full time, daycare, fastfood?

overweight children
White Hare asked:

Maybe these kids comfort themselves with food because they have attatchment disorders?
rrm38: I think this is precisely the case.
I would like to add to the fact that example is the best, perhaps only teacher. Whether your mom works, part time or full time, or stays home all day, the kids emulate what the mom does and they eat how the mom eats. If mom eats garbage, so do the kids, if mom is inactive, so are the kids.
