overweight children
Betty Sparkles asked:

Just saw a mom with a 4-year-old who must weight at least as much or more than my 7-year-old. I felt so sad for the child. After all, isn’t it the parents who have control over the child’s food intake and activity level?

What say you?

  1. I Love You <3 says:

I agree with that 100% it is the parents fault when your child gets overweight

  2. Corvinus says:

Report them for child abuse, for that is what it is!

  3. Junebug says:

I feel horrible about the kids because they’re going to have a hard time in the future if they keep it up. Some parents just don’t care and feed their kids to make them feel better. People say that there’s no cure for obesity when its really just people who don’t care for their bodies or their children’s.

  4. The Conceited Bastard says:

    feed them less

  5. make a wish and blow says:

that makes me sad , it really depends on teh genes , i was a heavy kid untill puberity then i grew out of it but no joke i was a fat kid

  6. Frankie the Rott says:

i was the fattest kid in school, and i love my parents

lost it all after i got away from all the dickheads in school

I have seen the same thing, i mean, I am 32, and this “little” girl was probably about 10 yrs old and she was a little shorter than me and was very obese. I felt so bad for her, but you asked about the parents. Regardless of whether it’s heredity or not, the family, as a whole, (not singling the child out) should get involved in physical activities and stick to a strict diet. I have never heard of anyone who takes in less calories, exercises regularly, not losing weight. But if the parents are big and like food, they feel like they don’t want to have to start eating healthy just to make an appearance to the kid. It’s a shame. If one of my kids was overweight, they would definitely be on a strict diet and exercise routine.

    I see it as two ways;
    There’s always possible genetics involved
but its also a lame excuse as well.
I think those parents truly don’t care about their kid’s
    well being.
For the most part when A child is born they are a clean slate, as a parent you have control to raise them right in healthy, emotionally, respectful manner.

children should only be fed what humans are genetically adapted to eat… meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds.

grain, and dairy is killing us its only been our diet for 10,000 out of 2,5 million years.. sugar even less

  10. yep. says:

Unless it’s a medical problem, the parent is an idiot.

  11. livn4themin says:

I reserve my right to remain silent. My oldest daughter is chubby, I was chubby – we eat normal stuff, get plenty of exercise – she’ll outgrow it. I feel sorry for the generations of obese people.

  12. panda! says:

    it’s genetics

  13. one more time to kill the pain☮ says:

i say their parents are lazy fukks who would rather shove food in their kids mouth than to listen to em cry

its really pathetic and its a serious form of child abuse and/or neglect
dcf should be focusing more on these parents than the ones who participate in herbal festivities from time to time

    Preparing for the TDs but…

IMHO, it’s the parents fault (unless there is something physiology wrong with the child). I figure the child is being sat in front of a t.v. for babysitting and being fed fast food and junk rather than the parents taking the time and care to prepare nutritious meals. Sorry, but it sickens me because it’s pure laziness on the part of the parents. They should care more about the future health of their child not to mention the social issues the child will face because of it.

  15. BJgirl likes 2 play w/ waddles says:

unless its genetics,I say the parents need a lesson in saying “No” once in awhile to all the crap they give their kids…

  16. zoro says:

its something related to genes, I have 2 boys eat same food, eat together, one is thin and the other is fat.
the elder son who is thin looks younger than his brother…z

  17. Jay Seven says:

    not really
but when they reach 8 and on then i worry

  18. Robert T says:

I believe it is the parents rights to raise and feed there kids however they choose.

Maybe they are raising baby sumo wrestlers. Or maybe they just like fat kids.

Maybe they are easier to keep up with at the park. Who knows.

Or maybe we should revert back to 1939 Germany. Where we only want the skinny strong white kids. 0_o

I am sorry Betty. I am sick and fuc*ing tired of the morally bankrupt government and everybody else trying to tell people how to live.

What happen to “Land of the Free” ? Or is it now “Land of the Fat free”

  19. Debra B says:

It’s very sad to see a young child who is obese. I think society has a lot to do with it..fast food, mother’s have to work and don’t or can’t spend the time cooking properly because of work schedules. Some kids have to make their own meals simply because of the parent’s schedules. I think the whole family should try as best as they can to eat properly with plenty of fruits and vegetables and lean meats..walking as a family would be very good exercise. Unfortunately a lot of kids are sitting in front of the TV or on the couch watching TV or playing video games instead of outside getting fresh air and exercise. Maybe if the parents encouraged proper eating habits and exercise we would have less obese children. Actually have you ever seen the school lunches? If the children knew to not select the fried or breaded foods and ate fresh it would help. I feel really sorry for overweight children as they are shown no mercy when it comes to being picked on.
