    parents fault.

    They’re fat.

  4. Kat* to the Extreme says:

Yes. I also think that daily gym class should be mandatory at least up until junior high.

Yeah.. especially if they have bad diets themselves. And parents need to encourage exercise too, even if the kids don’t like it. I don’t like to exercise all the time but if I didn’t I probably wouldn’t be too healthy. My whole family sees it that way and look at my pic, I’m skinny!

I think its very, very sad and its 100% the parents fault. Makes me wonder what in the world there thinking.

  8. Big Man says:

Parents do not feed their children so that they can be fat. Parents love their kids, and some can’t say no to them. It is also hard to make a child get up and run and play if he or she doesn’t want to.

But, I guess you could say it’s their “fault”.

No. I think a lot of it is the fault of our food supply. People eat what is most easily available.

There is high fructose corn syrup in so many things, one has to be diligent reading labels to avoid it.
Children also eat a lot of cereal which is filled with sugars of some sort, and they start from little drinking lots of soda.

I think the over-reliance on processed foods has left people starved of essential nutrients, and overeating is one response to that.

If we had real whole grain bread, in which you can actually see the grains, (like some Europeans do), it would help. Also, commercial milk has been altered so much that essential enzymes are removed and it tends to produce mucus. Raw milk was a much better source of nutrition.

The official response seems to be to have doctors monitor children’s’ weight from an early age. A lot of good that will do when we have these problems regarding the food available. Most parents aren’t going to search out the healthiest food available but will rely on what is easy and what they are used to.t
